Philip Harris Foundation Physics - Constant Motion Cart

Product Code: HP00054189
Category Motions & Forces

Description

The Foundation Physics Constant Motion Cart ables the investigation of the concept of constant velocity and acceleration. When in motion the Constant Motion Cart acts like a Ticker Timer.

As the car rolls over a strip of tape it pushes a marker down in regularly timed intervals which creates a pattern of dots that vary based on the speed of the car. If the car is freely rolling down an incline the dots will gradually have a larger distance between them illustrating the idea of acceleration.

If you switch the motor to one of the four present speeds students are given a stunning demonstration of constant velocity because no matter what constant speed the dots were traveling at they are always equally spaced. You can also switch the car's wheels to roll freely.

The Constant Motion Car includes:

  • 1 x Constant Motion Car
  • 1 x Allen Key
  • Instructions
  • Teacher's Guide
  • Students Guide

Additionally required items are:

  • Rolls of adding machine paper
  • Pencil or Marker
  • Stopwatch
  • Meter Ruler

Pre Orders being taken for September launch.

  • A versatile vehicle which assists with the teaching of Motion and Forces.
  • Suitable for staff and student use.
  • Key Stage 3 Physics - Motion and Forces: Relative motion: trains and cars passing one another. Speed and the quantitative relationship between average speed distance and time (speed = distance ÃÆ €™Ãƒ €  ‚¬ „¢ÃƒÆ’ ‚¬ ' · time)
  • Key Stage 4 Physics - Forces and Motion: Acceleration caused by forces: Newton 's First Law. Relate linear motion as observed from one moving vehicle to its observation from another moving relative to the first. Make and interpret measurements of distances times speeds and accelerations and represent these in graphical form.

Activities could include:

  • Introduction to Velocity and Acceleration
  • Constant Velocity - comparing the two different speed modes that are available.
  • Positive and Negative Accelerations
